Diagnostic Radiography
The Diagnostic Radiography program at is designed to prepare students to perform radiographic procedures and understand radiation protection, radiologic physics, and image production. Students will study principles and procedures used in professional practice, including image analysis, radiation protection, radiographic pathology, digital image acquisition and display, and radiographic testing. The core curriculum is structured to include a lecture component, an imaging laboratory component, and an integrated clinical component. The final externship portion of the curriculum consists of supervised experiences in a clinical environment, which requires competencies, logs, and evaluations completed by the student. At the conclusion of the program, graduates who have diligently attended class and their externship, studied, and practiced their skills should have the skills to seek entry-level employment as radiographers.
The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) offers certification for radiologic technologists. Currently, only graduates of a radiography program that is programmatically accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) are eligible to apply to ARRT for certification. The Radiography program at SBI is not programmatically accredited by JRCERT, and SBI can neither guarantee that the program will be accredited by JRCERT nor that students will be eligible for ARRT certification upon graduation or at any time in the future.
Diagnostic Radiography training is offered at the following campus locations:
